Bengaluru: Bribe-tainted CID SP to face independent probe

Bengaluru, Apr 27 (DHNS): The Home Department is likely to order an independent inquiry into the allegations of bribery against a superintendent of police M L Madhura Veena, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and her subordinate staff.

The DGP (CID) H C Kishore Chandra submitted an inquiry report to the DG&IGP Om Prakash recently about Veena and 11 other police officials who include two DySP-rank officers. The officers raided four-star hotel Orchid Ramada on March 3 claiming that a room had been booked by two girls for prostitution. The hotel management, in a complaint to the DGP (CID), had alleged that the officers raided the room without valid documents and even demanded Rs five lakh, but finally accepted Rs two lakh.

H C Kishore Chandra directed DIG (CID) Sonia Narang to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. Narang conducted the inquiry based on available evidences and submitted a report to Kishore Chandra who forwarded the same to DG and IGP for further action. “We received the report by DGP (CID) recently and are verifying it. The accused staff work with the CID and the CID higher-ups have submitted the inquiry report. We may order a separate inquiry by some other agency for a fair investigation,” Om Prakash told Deccan Herald.

He said that they would consider the nature of the offence, recommendations by the CID higher-ups and evidences available before deciding the nature of disciplinary action. The inquiry report names M L Madhura Veena and 11 of her subordinate staff, he added.

The CID enclosed statements, CCTV footage, bank account details - withdrawal of Rs 2 lakh - and other documents along with the report. The hotel management had claimed that the SP and her team raided room number 306 without a search warrant on the charge of prostitution. The SP threatened to book cases if a bribe of Rs five lakh was not paid. Two DySP rank officers were involved in finalising the deal for Rs two lakh. They collected the money and went away, the management said.

Hats off to the Hotel administration for coming forward to do its duty and make India Shine! If all of us do out bit - there is no doubt India will indeed shine and continue to do so. This particular news report is cryptic but based on the other reports in the media, the CID superior who was told to investigate and report was also a lady and I commend her for being an upright police officer.
This issue has nothing to do with being a Dalit and once the bribe taking is proved in court- THIS LADY ALSO NEEDS TO BE PROSECUTED FOR Falsely accusing the senior police officer. Very high punishment will serve as a deterrent to others - so that they will not use that "Card" even in their dreams.

In recent times there is debate over who in an anti-national. In my personal view - any one who has taken an oath to serve and protect but is involved in undermining that oath is deemed an anti-national. Hall mark of DEMOCRACY is JUSTICE. Our nation is weak ( CJI broke down recently in the presence of PM Modi) when judicial infrastructure is insufficient to meet the demands of the justice.Just like for the economy there should be good roads for the movement of goods in the same way to our India to shine- we need better infrastructure and more judges for our judiciary

Sick minded female police officer. Power has gone to head and behaving like a Don. Her name appears sweet but her actions are criminal. She shud be sent to parappana agrahara jail forever. Unfit for public service. This is how police threaten people and run their extortion racket. Either pay police maamuli in regular periods or face such threats if you run honest business.

All evidences like cctv footage, transfer of bribe money to veena account etc are very much exist. Unless police don't do their job in properly producing evidences to court, veena is bound to be punished by court. But as public know, veena will be protected by top police officials and she will come out victorious.

Police department personnel collect enormous black money as maamuli from petty shop owners, street vendors, illegal business activities, real estate, prostitution, bar-wineshops, complainants n innocent victims from public, sand water stone quarries, mafia etc . Their collection is very systematic n more than may be income tax collection. Police make good use of illegal activities for making money. Majboori. Police know such people can't complain, therefore some understanding of bribe payment. Terrible failure of system. If you want to beat up ur enemy, some times police will facilitate it. Most theft daCoity loot nexus operating with active involvement of police. Recently police were found running honeytrap business.

But majority police like traffic police do a hard days work.

I never saw an advocate or police officer getting convicted in crimes.
