Mangalore, Oct 22: It is said that marriages are made in heaven. But they are celebrated on earth. Moreover, this occasion comes only once in a lifetime. That is why every person who enters into wedlock, wants to ensure that his or her marriage is a memorable one.

Well, here is a typical Mangalorean wedding where ancient heritage so as to speak galloped into reality in this era. A colourful and traditional horse-driven cart was used as part of the wedding procession of the bridegroom Ritesh and bride Ritika here on Saturday October 20. This unique marriage ceremony was held at Jeppu church. Ritesh is the son of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario.

Speaking to daijiworld, Eric explained that it is difficult to bring back the entire olden tradition and heritage to reality. But a small attempt has been made here to recall it, he added poignantly.

Undoubtedly, it is indeed difficult to put into practice the entire ancient tradition particularly with regard to wedding ceremonies, in the modern era. But by giving such small touches from the past to the current wedding function, it could be ensured that such marriages stay unique owing to its special attribute.

Congrats Eric Keep it up! Eric who sincerely works hard to keep the Konkanni Language alive for the future generations to come, needs to be complimented for the yeomen effort he puts in to bring back the old Konkanni Culture. It is really unique and wonderful the bride and the bride groom travelling on the horse driven cart. As Eric has given us a lead to uplift the old culture may there be young and noble personalities to follow his foot steps. Let our Konkanni heritage reach the pinnacle under the able leadership of Eric Ozario.
