Moodbidri, Jun 19: President of Dakshina Kannada Heggade Samaja Seva Sangha, Uday Kumar, alleged that the work, 'Tulunadu Heggade Samudaya' about the Heggade community has twisted history and projected Heggade community in derogatory manner. He said that there has been a systematic conspiracy to feed false information to the government about this community. Commenting that this work has been created for personal benefit, he urged government not to give recognition to this work.

This work has been authored by N R Hegde and professor of Hampi University, Prof K M Metri. Along with the leaders of the above organization, leaders of similar organizations from Mumbai and Bengaluru came together at a press conference held here on Saturday June 18 to term the said work as a silly attempt meant to tarnish the image of Heggades.

Heggade Samaj Seva Sangha Mumbai president, Vijay Heggade, said that Heggade community members have been the original owners of the lands in this region, own Guthu houses and forts, and held highly respectable positions in the society. He said that the authors of the above book, based on a baseless folklore story, have woven a fake story around Heggades. He asked the authors to withdraw the said book immediately failing which he threatened of filing civil and criminal court cases against them.

President of Bengaluru Heggade Seva Sangha, Devendra Heggade, high court advocate, Prakash Hegde, and legal advisor of the organization, Naveenchandra Hegde, were present at the press conference.
