New Delhi: President's Rule in Karnataka Revoked

PTI

New Delhi, Nov 8: Ending the suspense, Centre on Thursday revoked President's rule in Karnataka, paving the way for the formation of the BJP-JD(S) government in the southern state once again.

The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet two days after the Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur submitted his "final" report on the BJP-JDS demand for invitation to form the government.

The BJP would be sharing power with the H D Devegowda-led JD(S), whose coalition had collapsed last month on the issue of transfer of power which led to imposition of President's Rule in the state on October 9.

The BJP and JD(S) had even paraded their MLAs before President Pratibha Patil a couple of days back to press for their demand as the two parties suddenly came together to share power after parting ways making charges and counter-charges.

The BJP has projected former Deputy Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa as its Chief Minister nominee.

At least we had some progress during president rule, including work starting on the Bangalore highway, which turned from a road to a non-usable dirt track in the last 20 months. With the BJP coming to power again, it's back to "more important" issues like Bababudangiri, Lingayat consolidation, power politics, etc. After all, that is what gets votes and supporters, not silly things like highways and trains.

It's good to see that Karnataka governed by BJP. Coz people are fed up with Congress dirty politics. Congress has only divided the society into sections in their 60 years ruling. Also divided hindus into castes, Christians, Muslims only for their votebank. Congress didn't do anything for this country after independence & we are totally depending on the british built project except for Konkan Railway.

I don't think this Govt. will last longer, that too with Deve Gowda's support. People are fed up with this kind political drama. Governor would have ruled the state atleast for sometime for better development. I am sure, again the formation of coalition Government will involve in blamegame and will curtail the development process.

It is a dark day for the people of Karnataka where a combination of unscrupulous elements have joined hands once again with the sheer greed for power keeping their own self interests before people's interests. However the Union Cabinet has taken the right decision lest the centre be accused of partisan politics. The two quarelling coalition partners after trading abuses of the worst kind against each other just a fortnight back suddenly making a somersault with the sole aim of only filling their party coffers will drain the state of its resources and take it backwards.

President's rule for sometime would have been ideal for the progress and alround development of the state with learned and experienced advisors at the helm. Now once again these dirty and selfish crooks will be ruling the roost and one can only hope that the combine will collapse sooner than later paving the way for fresh elections. It is a good ocassion as far as the Congress party is concerned to play the role of a reponsible and effective opposition by exposing the evil designs of the combine and work towards securing an absolute majority in the ensuing elections whenever they are held after the collapse of this fragile coalition . No sooner the Union cabinet decided to revoke President's rule , Kumaraswamy has gone on record and said that his father and JDs supremo will have a major say in governance failing which the coalition will run into rough weather.

This is in itself a clear indication of the things to come for the future and longevity of the government. Anti incumbency factor will be an added advantage for the Congress as full scale bickering will immediately start and the people will soon become fed up.To sum up dark days are ahead for the state but surely it it going to be short lived.Till then one has to put up with the reality and be prepared for the worst for sometime and hope for the best thereafter.
