Mangaluru, Jul 1: Pre-university or 12th standard is the most crucial stage in a student’s life. Students at this stage need to decide their career path, and that, in most cases, is a million dollar question. This step has to be taken after lots of planning and thinking. Carelessness in taking such life-altering decisions can lead to disastrous consequences. They need to take into consideration various factors such as their interests, job scope, opportunities etc while choosing their careers. This process gets simplified if they get an opportunity to attend an interactive session with professionals who are subject matter experts in their domain.

Usually, due to peer/parental pressure, students frequently end up making hasty decisions about their careers, and get into a field of study they're not cut out for. Another frequent mistake is looking for career guidance after 12th exams are over; this is something that they ought to seek out as early as possible. A little extra time spent doing research can prevent them from making serious career mistakes.

Vikas Pre University College will be organizing 'VIKAS CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME', a free career guidance workshop at Besant Auditorium, MG Road on Sunday, July 3 for students who are currently pursuing their 2nd PU science. The workshop can be attended by parents and teachers too.

The interactive workshop, using audio-visual aids, assists students in identifying career options and appropriate higher education routes for each, thus enabling them determine the steps they need to take to equip themselves with for a professional career.

Many colleges/institutions organize career guidance in the month of November/December. By then, the students would have already made a choice, be it right or wrong. Therfore, to help students decide during the formative period of career planning, this programme is scheduled in the first week of July.

By attending this programme, many questions like the ones mentioned below will be clarified for the students.

Should you continue with science and opt for a BSc degree?
Should you take up engineering?
Should you opt for a MBBS course or any of the ISMH courses?
How about architecture?
Is NEET and JEE compulsory for medicine and engineering?
How do I become a pilot?
Can I get scholarships for my undergraduate studies?
What are the next generation courses?

This workshop is for the students who are currently pursuing their 2nd PU science. The workshop can be attended along with parents.

During the question and answer sessions, students and their parents can put forward any question they may have on the different options available, as also on the most suitable institutions for studying in India and abroad and the job opportunities thereafter.

All the students will be provided with a free career path chart, which will help them to understand A-Z courses which they can pursue in India after 2nd PU. Complimentary lunch will be provided for all the attendees. The duration of the workshop is from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

A great, highly useful initiative undertaken by Vikas PU College and Daijiworld.

In the present highly competitive and stressful work environment, the correct identification/choice of course for studying at the under-graduate level will help the students to a very great extent.

The students and their parents will definitely be able to decide, based on the student's academic background, proficiency, line of interest and future career prospects, what would be the best available course of study. This one life-deciding decision could make all the difference to the student in being a success in life.

Kudos to the organisers of the free career guidance workshop and may you be able to conducts the workshop at many other centres too. You will always be remembered by the grateful students and their parents. May God bless you for this selfless initiative.

An excellent initiative by Vikas PU COllege and Daijiworld. Such programs are the need of the hour. I see our youth wander helplessly because there is no one to guide them. Many of them end up living lives of others, rather than theirs because they did not choose the right course. I hope many students and parents will participate in this innovative program and benefit. I will also definitely come and attend this program. Thank you.
