Barcelona confirm goalkeeper Bravo's move to Man City

Barcelona, Aug 21 (IANS): Spanish football champions FC Barcelona's sporing director Roberto Fernandez has confirmed they are on the verge of selling goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to English club Manchester City.

Shortly after Bravo helped Barcelona win 6-2 at home in La Liga over Real Betis here on Saturday, Fernandez posted a tweet that the club had "principally agreed" to the move, reports Xinhua.

Manchester City is currently being coached by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.

"We need to sign a new goalkeeper and we are awaiting events this week. When Claudio leaves we hope to have a new goalkeeper," he then confirmed on Catalan TV network TV3.

Reports in Spain indicated that Ajax keeper Jasper Cilleson will be Bravo's replacement and will battle it out with Ter Stegen to be first choice keeper.

Bravo's two years at the Camp Nou Stadium have seen him win eight trophies with this season's Spanish Supercup, which Barcelona conquered on Wednesday night against Sevilla.
