Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Aug 22: Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd has told the Railway Protection Force to investigate the Hoons graffiti incident which was detected on Saturday August 21 on two coaches of Madgaon-Mangaluru Central-Madgaon diesel multiple unit train.

Though the graffiti was seen outside the train which did not damage the coaches in any way, the railways has taken the matter very seriously. It believes that the incident is a serious threat to the security of trains and railway properties.

It should be remembered that no advertisements are allowed on train coaches without the permission from the Indian Railways.

The graffiti was noticed when the train (No 70105) arrived at Mangaluru Central Railway Station from Madgao on Saturday afternoon. Throughout the journey from Madgao, no one had brought the matter to the notice of railways probably because they must have taken it is an advertisement.

Two coaches of the train had ‘Hoons’ word written on them. Spray painting was used to paint the graffiti.

Railway officials believe that the mischief must have been carried out at Madgaon where the train is parked. They said that considerable time is required to do such graffiti.

Railway officials said that fresh paint will be applied to the affected coaches while the investigation is being done. They also revealed that

Rail Hoons’ graffiti on the Madgaon-Mangaluru train is the fourth such incident reported in a week.

The first incident was reported in Thiruchirapalli Railway Yard where three coaches were defaced. The next incident was reported on August 16 at Shoranur in Kerala where two of the five coaches of an Accident Relief Train stationed at the yard were defaced. The third incident came to light when the Dhanbad-Alappuzha Express that arrived at Shoranur on August 19.

You can do anything with the railway coaches, because they are parked in the railway yard were anyone can come and do anything. There are no guards or police to look after Govt. owned property. Really surprising the interiors are so badly maintained. The railways should look into it. The public or citizens of India should take a call in protecting the railway property.

If not cleaned regularly, these graffiti looks at least pleasing to the eyes.

Indian Railways need come out of the tradition looks. Also required considerable investment to improve interiors.

I wish partial amount would have diverted to services, instead of 'Bullet train'.

Railways should come out with more attractive painting designs and colours to the coaches.
Otherwise people will try to decorate the coaches themselves.

They actually look great. And the fact that people are creating this graffiti at their own cost is even admired.
Only problem I see is if "hoons" has any hidden meaning that we don't understand.
