Bhatkal, Sep 3: Police sub-inspector (SI) of the town station here, Revathi, who has submitted resignation from her post instead of accepting her suspension order allegedly for dereliction of duty, reportedly has levelled serious allegations against assistant superintendent of police and local BJP leaders in her letter to the state home minister.

Revathi has alleged that she is being harassed by the higher ups in the department. She also has accused of a particular police officer and BJP leaders of trying to ignite communal tension in the area, duly alleging that they were behind certain past incidents of tossing meat into Hindu prayer centres.

There have been allegations that politicians, with the specific aim of vitiating the atmosphere during the run up to the next election in the area, have been making innocent people scape goats. There are allegations that the high ranking police officer who has close association with Sangh Parivar activists, has been dancing to the tunes of these leaders. Revathi's complaint appears to strengthen this notion.

In the meanwhile, the district sessions court at Karwar has issued non-bailable warrant against Revathi on Friday September 2, relating to her continued absence relating to a case of caste abuse. After fight between Revathi and deputy superintendent of police, Narayan in 2012 worsened, it is said, Revathi had used words considered as abusive of the caste to which the officer belonged. Narayan had thereafter, filed caste abuse case against her.

Sources in police department say that Revathi had been pressurized not to reveal the truth behind the incidents of tossing meat as above, and when she refused to toe this line, she was accused of dereliction of duty and suspended.
