Mangalore, Dec 31:  The ‘Akhada,’ programme organized by Zee Kannada channel at Town Hall, turned violent, on Monday, December 31.

The hot debate ensued here, when former MLA Yogish Bhat accused that the district administration has failed to control the communal clashes in the district. Suddenly, Pattabhirama Somayaji, a thinker and lecturer in University College has accused that the politicians are also responsible for the clashes which have taken place in the district. Somayaji also accused that, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty had directly involved in the communal clashes which took place during October 2006.

Later, an errant audience asked Somayaji not to accuse political leaders, instead focus on developmental issues only.

Meanwhile, another audience alleged that former MLA, U T Khader and former Mayor Ashraf were also involved in the disgraced communal clashes of October 2006. But, the Ullal Block Congress president Eshwar Ullal and Vittal Block Congress president, M S Mohammed denied their allegations. Meanwhile, the situation took ugly turn when the BJP and Congress supporters ruffed up each other.

Finally, the police had to interfere to bring the situation under control.

Yes, Kevin Lobo is absolutely correct Politicians are only responsible for all communal riots wherever it happens. If the common citizens aware about this truth all the drama will  end, then we will enjoy our living in secular India.

Politicians are investing huge funds in this type of riots. Can anyone imagine that there is much of leisure time in our youngster's schedule to participate in riots? It is clear that some of the youngsters hired for this. Only the political profit seekers can hire them. Time is over!  politicians cant cheat Mangalorean voters they are clever.

All the debate should be healthy and violance should not be brought in. We all Indians are one. No one else from the world can come and help us. We need to solve our problems and leave together. if you dont understand then come to gulf and USA to see how Mangaloreans and Indians live together. Development is not just economic development. it should be mental development also.

This is a bad omen for Mangalore. People need to substantiate the allegations with some solid proof (like police chargesheet etc). Plain mud slinging generally results in such fiasco.

Politicians are responsible for communal riots. They are interested only in vote bank and hence the developmental issues are given least importance.
