Chennai, Aug 25: Actor Shriya Saran and superstar Rajinikanth have reunited nearly two decades after sharing the screen in Shankar’s blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss.
Shriya gave fans a glimpse of the reunion on Tuesday by sharing a selfie with Rajinikanth on her Instagram Stories. In the photograph, Rajinikanth was seen sporting his look from his upcoming film Dharman, while Shriya captioned the picture, “Happy Day.”
The photograph has sparked curiosity among fans, particularly amid speculation that Shriya could be associated with Dharman. She is reportedly expected to make a cameo appearance in the Ashwath Marimuthu-directed film, although neither the actor nor the filmmakers have officially confirmed the development.
Shriya and Rajinikanth first worked together as the lead pair in Sivaji: The Boss, which was released in 2007 and went on to become a major commercial success. Their latest meeting therefore marks a reunion 19 years after their blockbuster collaboration.
Shriya has recently returned to the spotlight following renewed attention around Awarapan 2. Although she is not part of the Emraan Hashmi-starrer, discussions surrounding the sequel have brought renewed focus to her work in the original Awarapan.
On the work front, Shriya was last seen in Space Gen: Chandrayaan earlier this year. She has several projects lined up, including Drishyam 3, scheduled for release on October 2. She is also part of Sandakkari and has made a special appearance in a song in Non Violence.
Rajinikanth, meanwhile, is preparing for the release of Jailer 2, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 15. The Nelson-directed sequel recently unveiled its first single, Ala Bolelo.
The superstar is currently shooting for Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. The film also features Simran and Raashi Khanna and is backed by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International.
Dharman will mark another significant collaboration between Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan after more than four decades. The two are also set to collaborate as actors in KHxRK, which will be directed by Nelson.
