Kasargod: Mobile shop owner sells several sims with single ID, arrested

Kasargod, Oct 21: Bekal station police arrested the owner of a mobile shop for selling several sims using a single identity proof.

The arrested person is identified as Chandran (42), a resident of Panayal.

The raid led by Bekal station Sub-Inspector was conducted on orders from district police, SP Thomson Jose. The police seized several records in the raid. Police said that four to five sim cards were obtained using the same photographs and identity proofs.

The accused has confessed of having sold old sims to workers from outside the state for an amount ranging between Rs 300 and Rs 500.

Police had received a complaint regarding a vulgar video received to the mobile of a young girl. The police had found during investigations that the video was sent using sim card sold by the shop in Periyatadka. Further investigation revealed that several sim cards were sold illegally. District Superintendent of Police ordered the police to gather details.

Several unskilled workers from other states live in Periyatadka and the vicinity. The shopkeeper has apparently sold sim cards for exorbitant prices without obtaining proof of their identity.

The police obtained the assistance of Cyber cell in this respect.
