Mumbai, Nov 5: Kanara Catholic Association - Thane hosted the 46th performance of 'Wilson Olivera Concert' on Monday, October 31 at Gadkari Rangayatan, Thane.

In spite of it being a morning show and that too on a Monday, it was attended by 637 Kanarites as well as other music lovers of Thane and the neighborhood, and they cheered the artistes throughout the three-hour programme in appreciation.

Kanara Catholic Association-Thane had just completed two years recently. Considering this factor, to undertake a venture of this magnitude required guts, grit and leadership. However, the show started late due to an unavoidable circumstance namely - the hall was made available an hour later than scheduled. The disappointment of the audience though, was short lived for they enjoyed the show. KCA-T apologized for the delay. KCA-T appreciated the wonderful job done by St Antony Sounds and Lights Kundapura in setting up the stage in just forty-five minutes when generally it takes more than twice the time.

As the curtains were drawn Wilson Olivera and Chorus sang a devotional song “Namo Bapa” with great serenity and dignity. This was followed by twenty items in quick succession, comprising Konkani songs, dances and comedy accompanied by a well-balanced orchestra led by Roshan D’Souza.

'Mother Teresa' a song and dance number rendered by Wilson Olivera and chorus and the dance by 'Nach Sobhann' (Rahul Pinto, Sandesh Monteiro, Senhith Lobo, Sonal D’Cruz, Delina Pinto, Dylina Mendoza and Joylin D’Souza) depicting the worth of Mother Teresa received a very great round of applause. Choreography for this dance as well as the other four, provided by Avil D’Cruz was much appreciated.

Wilson Olivera with his mellifluous voice gave an evocative rendition of 'Mai' which brought tears to many. Indeed it was a soul-stirring performance, sung with so much feeling and love. To say the least it was the hit of the day.

All the four comedies performed by Kushaali Kinnigoli (Roystan Kiran, Wilfred Monis and Reena Priya) made the audience roar with laughter, Melroy Jakson’s appropriate music enhanced the enjoyment.

The comedy sequences were conceptualized and directed by Roystan Kiran. All the artistes be they singers, musicians, dancers and comedians with a comedienne, performed extremely well. So much so that Thaneites have rated it as top class.

But there was one who made the most remember and most frequent appearances on stage, who never took part in any of the performances- he neither sang nor danced not acted but only talked. Nevertheless the audience avidly looked forward to his appearance on stage, for he regaled the audience in no small measure. He is none other than the inimitable and witty compere, Ronald Olivera.
