Mumbai: Family injured in acid attack; employer blamed


Mumbai, Nov 30 (TOI): Three members of a family, including a four-year old child, sustained severe burns after acid was thrown on them while they were asleep in their shanty in Dindoshi, Malad.

Chandan Singh (32), who works at a gold plating unit in Malad, his wife Chandni and son Adarsh have been admitted to Shatabdi Hospital in Malad. Dindoshi police have registered an attempt to murder case against unknown persons.

In his complaint, Singh said he suspects the involvement of his employer in the attack."Singh told us that a day before the incident he had an arguement with his employer over money matter. He said that his employer, in a fit of rage, threatened that he would see to him," said deputy commissioner of police Chavan.

Police said the attacker may have thrown the acid from a tiny hole in the wall of their house. Police have sent samples of the acid remains to forensic lab.Singh said the acid is used in gold platings.
