Kasargod, Feb 8: Sridhar Poojary (55) from Kayarpadavu near Bellur, Mulleria, fell into a well without a protective wall on the night of Monday February 6, and drowned.
Poojary had gone out of his home after dinner to wash his hands when he accidentally slipped and fell into the open well.
Although family members and locals tried to bring him out of the well, they failed in their efforts. Thereafter, the fire brigade stationed in the town was called. The firemen reached the spot some time later and brought Poojary out and took him to the hospital, but he could not be saved.
Poojary was from Suntikoppa near Madikeri, and had recently shifted his residence here after buying property. He is survived by wife and three daughters. A case about the incident was filed at Adur police station.
