M’lore: Workshop on Trends in Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy

The inaugural function of a two-day workshop on 'Recent trends in hospital and clinical pharmacy' for government hospital pharmacists was organized by the NSS unit of Karavali College of Pharmacy jointly with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services and the District training centre in Suratkal, here recently.  

Delivering the keynote presidential address Dr H Jagannath, the district health and family welfare officer informed the gathering that it is largely due to the hard-work and foresightedness of great persons in the past like Charaka and Shusrutha that today pharmacy science is in existence. Moreover, he opined "the co-operation of pharmacists is very important in ensuring that the patients get the best medicines.  

S Ganesh Rao, chairman of Karavali group of colleges after inauguration the workshop in his speech pointed out that there is a popular apprehension that the government sector is lagging behind in quality service, and hence it is very essential for people in the government sector to update their knowledge from time to time.  

"Attendance in continuing education programmes is mandatory for PG students and doctors in most foreign countries, the trend is not yet popular in India," said Dr Nidarsh Hegde, Senate member in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). RGUHS is the first University to make this mandatory to students, in India, he informed further.  

Prof (Dr) Ramakrishna Shabaraya, college principal, Dr Narayana Naik, principal of District Training Centre and NSS coordinator Muhammad Mubeen and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
