I am seeing this news of fatal accidents especially from DK & Udupi districts where the drivers of heavy vehicles [buses & trucks] think that by getting DL, they have the licence to drive recklessly & kill anyone on their speeding way and if victims are killed, tythe driver may pay a nominal fine for reckless driving. It is high time India makes a compulsory blood money compensation by the driver of the vehicles killing persons in accident as prevailing in Gulf countries, esp in UAE it is approx. equivalent of Rs.25 lakhs or so.

The practice in UAE is that always the heavier vehicle driver has to bear the responsibility [as he has to be more careful] and if any person is knoked down & admitted to hospital, the driver will be behind the bars till the victim is out of hospital and if the victims die, then the driver can't come out of the prison unless he or his Insurance co. pays the blood money per victim.

Further, the Speed Governors have to be made compulsory for all private buses [incl. night luxury buses may be with a relaxation of 80 kmph] in DK & Udupi disrticts which has the most rash drivers in India. Also, the noise polluting creeking horns of these buses are to removed. The decibell levels of these HORNS are not accepatable anywhere in the world, except in India, I feel.

Most importantly, like IT & Telecom revolution, India needs a revolution in Road Trasport Safety sector comparable to the developed countries or atleast of the level of Gulf countries [with training abroad in a developed country for RTA staff from Break-Inspectors to Transport Commissioners level].
