Bengaluru, Mar 31: SSLC examination began across the state on Thursday March 30. Two days prior to this year's examination, which happens to be an important stage in one's life, a girl student from Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) town ended life out of examination fear. On the first day of the examination, three students from Ballari were debarred for copying.

The student who committed suicide was the daughter of Srinivasan, resident of Robertsonpet fourth block at KGF, Kolar. It is gathered that two days back, the girl had shared her feeling of being jittery about the approaching examination, and the parents had instilled confidence in her. The parents, in a complaint filed in Robertsonpet police station, said that the girl hanged herself on Tuesday evening when no one was around.

Three students who were found to be copying answers at the examination centre at Vianney Vidya Mandir at Ballari were debarred. Officials of inter-district vigilance cell who observed them copying answers from small chits they had with them, made inquiries before debarring them.  

Nine persons found to be trying to provide answer shits to students in Devarahipparagi centre in Vijayapura district were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The arrested men are from Hittinahalli, Devoor, Manur and other villages, police sources stated. Cases of mass copying were observed in several examination centes in Belagavi and Vijaypura districts. Copying was going on Veereshwar PU college at Nalatwada in Muddebihal taluk,  Basaveshwar high school and Rakkasagi government high school examination centre. In Rakkasagi centre, dust in the slip thrown  at a student went into his eyes, resulting in problems for sometime.

Room and chief supervisors of examinations at Aralihatti government high school, Mone and Ainapura examination centres in Athani taluk, Belagavi district were replaced for supporting mass copying by students.

SSLC Board director, Yashoda Bopanna, said that district deputy commissioners have been instructed to replace examination supervisors helping copying in examinations. She said that in some cases, parents themselves were reported to be involved with providing slips containing answers to their children, adding that cases have been registered in such cases.
