Puttur, Apr 6: A woman torched herself and lost her life at Panjody in Alankaru village near Kadaba on Tuesday April 4. The victim happened to be Baby (39), wife of Amobdy alias Hukra, resident of Panjody in Alankaru village.

On Tuesday morning, it is said, Baby poured kerosene on herself before igniting fire. She suffered severe burn injuries, and was thereafter admitted into a private hospital in the town. From there, she was referred to the district Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru. But in spite of treatment provided, she could not be saved. Baby breathed her last late night on Tuesday.

Sheena, brother of the victim, said in his complaint that the woman was frustrated with her life on account of recurring health problems she suffered from.  At the same time, he expressed suspicion about her death and  has requested the police to  investigate the incident in detail.

Kadaba police have registered a case.  Kadaba station house officer visited Wenlock Hospital at Mangaluru for inquest. Investigation is in progress.
