Puttur: Jeep hits motor bike - rider dies, two suffer serious injuries

Puttur, Apr 7: After a  jeep  hit a motor bike near the timber depot at Mannagundi near Nelyady in  the taluk on Thursday April 6, the bike rider got killed, while two others on the motor bike were seriously injured. The deceased has been identified as Purushotham Gowda (36), son of Shivanna Gowda from Kadambur near Kalapparu, Shiradi village.

Two others who were seated in the jeep, Dharnappa (46) and Vishwanath from Rekhya village, were injured. Both were admitted into a hospital here. The accident occurred when a jeep that was on its routine trip carrying passengers to Nelyady from Kokkada through the national highway hit the motor bike head on.  Purushotham, who got tossed to the road, breathed his last on the spot. The jeep went out of the control of its driver, after which it moved to the edge of the road and covered some distance down the cliff before coming to a halt.
