Kasargod: A truckload of firecrackers not backed by documents seized

Kasargod, Apr 7: A team of local police personnel led by police circle inspector, Abdul Rahiman, and sub-inspector, Ajit Kumar,  took into possession a truckload of firecrackers after finding that the consignment was not backed by proper documents.

In this connection, Santosh Mallya (32) living in Mallya Compound here, and Shivaprasad (28), resident of Pilikunje, were arrested.

The police team was checking vehicles on the highway when it came a cross the truck carrying firecrackers. When approached, the people in the truck failed to furnish either documents in support of the goods or proper explanation. The value of the firecrackers  so seized is said to run into lacs of rupees.

The police have gathered that these firecrackers were bought from a wholesale dealer in Bathery, Mangaluru. The truck and the stock were taken into possession. The concerned have been asked to produce papers relating to the seized items.
