A meeting of the landless at Kundapur Haladi market was held on Tuesday morning.

President of the state labourers association, Nithyananda Swamy speaking on occasion urged the MLA to look into the applications, identify government land and distribute title deeds soon. He submitted a petition to Srinivasa Shetty.

The MLA speaking after receiving the petition said that he had raised the question of allotting sites in the assembly in 2002. "The government has proposed to provide 2, 3 or 4 cents land to the poor. However nothing can be done in such small sites. Such place is sufficient only in urban area. I have requested to provide at least 0.10 acres land," he said showing the documents.

"I will be taking further initiative in the coming days and I'm working sincerely towards providing the sites," he said.

Venkatesh Koni, Suresh Kallagar, H Narasimha, several other leaders and more than a hundred protesters participated in the protests.
