Bengaluru, Apr 12: The state high court (HC), on Tuesday April 11, issued stay order against the investigation being conducted against special land acquisition officer here, Gayatri N Nayak, by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) which has registered a case against her.

The single judge bench of the state HC presided over by Justice Anand Byrareddy, while hearing a petition filed by KAS officer, Gayatri, currently working in National Highways Authority of India projects, granted interim stay as prayed, and ordered issuance of notice to ACB.

Advocate, M S Bhagwat, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, argued that ACB that has been created to contain corruption does have legal standing. He argued that in spite of not having legal authority, ACB has registered case against the petitioner, which is wrong. Therefore, he prayed for issuance of stay against the first information report registered by ACB.

ACB had registered first information report against Gayatri on January 1, 2017, alleging that she had sought payment of bribe in a land acquisition case.
