Puttur, Apr 13: Assistant director of Puttur Urban Development Authority (PUDA), Lavanya, was caught red-handed by the officials of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) when accepting bribe from a person to attend to his work, on Tuesday April 12.

It is learnt that Lavanya had demanded for payment of Rs 20,000 from Ram Mohan Pai, who had sought certificate of land conversion from PUDA.  After Pai expressed his inability to meet this demand, the issue was discussed and the official reportedly brought down her demand to Rs 10,000.

On behalf of Pai, a person named Keshav Suvarna had complained to ACB about the said demand for bribe. The police raided the office of PUDA when money was being handed over to the official on Wednesday.

ACB police inspector, Yogeesh, and constable, Hariprasad, were involved with this raid. The officials questioned the official later before producing her in the third district court at Mangaluru.
