Udupi, May 2: “All the youth in the district undergoing training at GTTC College will get employment,” said minister of youth empowerment, sports and district in charge, Pramod Madhwaraj.
He spoke after laying the foundation stone for GTTC being constructed at a cost of Rs 43 crore in Uppooru on Monday, May 1. “Several companies manufacturing tools for industries are in the state. Those have scarcity of trained staff. Students studying at the center get jobs before they complete their education. All the 50 thousand students who completed education at the center have so far received jobs. Rs 11 crore are released for the construction of the center at Uppooru. The work will be completed soon,” the minister said.
MP Shobha Karandlaje who spoke at the programme, said that GTTC training is being provided for the less educated youth so that they may be financially secure. “Rs 9.5 crore is released under Nabard project of the centre. Skilled training will be provided to youth at the center,” she said.
Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes, said that the main demand of the youth in the country is jobs. “More youth should be educated at the center and the number of teachers should be increased.”
Uppooru grama panchayat president Arathi, Vidhana Parishat member K Pratap Chandra Shetty, minority development corporation president M A Gafoor, Udupi City Corporation president Meenakshi Madhava, Udupi City Development Corporation president Narasimha Murthy, zilla panchayat member Janardhan Thonse, member Dinaker Herooru, Kundapur taluk authority president Vikas Hegde, APMC member Baptist Dias and others were present.
District industries center joint director Ramananda Nayak welcomed everyone. Assistant director Seetharama Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
Nerm buses set in motion:
District in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj set in motion Nerm buses plying in Uppooru.
He said that the government buses, which was a long standing demand of the people is being fulfilled. “Students will be given concession. Bus passes will be provided at the rate of Rs 130 for children from first to seventh standard, Rs 400 for female students between eighth and tenth standard, Rs 600 for boys, Rs 1,100 for PUC students and Rs 1,300 for degree students. Students can use the pass for ten months. Blind people, handicapped and national award winners can travel free,” he said.
“Nerm bus facilities will be introduced on roads where there are no private buses or where their services are poor. Parari bridge and Sheembra Perampalli bridge will be complete by December 31. It will take just 5 minutes to travel between Uppooru and Manipal. It will pave the way for all round development at Uppooru,” he said.
