Bantwal: Man escapes assault with lethal weapons

Bantwal, May 9: Two miscreants made an unsuccessful attempt to assault a man with lethal weapons whose duty was to release water at Kodimajalu on Monday morning, May 8.

Kareem, resident of Kumpanamajalu is the person who saved himself. He is assigned to release water at Kumpanamajalu vicinity in Pudu gram panchayat. The two suspected assailants were waiting for the man with weapons.

Kareem was on his way to Kodimajalu to leave water in his scooter on Monday morning at 5.30 am. A man stopped him on the way and asked for direction to go to Kumpanamajalu. Kareem said that this is Kumpanamajalu. The man who asked for direction came closer and asked Kareem to turn the scooter off. Kareem who grew suspicious drove his scooter to the water tank at Kodimajalu. Kareem saw to his horror that the two men were armed with lethal weapons. Kareem drove without stopping, but one of the assailants threw a weapon towards Kareem. However it did not hit Kareem. As Kareem fell on the way due nervousness, he sustained injuries.

Kareem has complained to Bantwal rural police station. He is being treated at Tumbe private hospital. Rural police station SI Umesh and staff visited the hospital and gathered details from Kareem.

A case stands registered in the police station. Investigations are on.
