Udupi, May 10: A youth accidentally fell into a well at Pangala near Kaup in the taluk on the afternoon of Tuesday May 9. The victim has been identified as Shivaprasad, resident of Saraswatinagara in Pangala.

Shivaprasad (28) often used to sit on the protective wall around the well. When he was seated on the platform as usual on Tuesday, he lost his balance and fell into the well. The well has gone dry. Shivaprasad's head banged against a boulder inside the well as he fell down and he lost his life instantly.

The accident occurred even as Shivaprasad's mother, Pushpa Shettigar, who was in the courtyard of the house, watched in horror. Shivaprasad's father had died six months back. He is survived by a brother, a sister, and mother.

A case about the accident was filed in Kaup police station.
