Mandya, May 10: A girl from H Kyatanahalli in Nagamangala taluk was found to have died. There is suspicion that she was murdered to protect family's honour.

Chandini (17) was found to have died, and her body was found to be hanging on Sunday. The parents had performed her cremation without informing the police.

Chandini was the daughter of Yadukumar and Gayatri from the village. She was a second PU student of a private PU college at Shravanabelagola. She had fallen in love with a boy named Vasu, native of Kumbenahalli near Shravanabelagola. The parents of the girl, who came to know about the love affair, disapproved the boy and fixed marriage of the girl with another youth. Frustrated by this development, Vasu had recently killed himself.

It is learnt that on Sunday, Chandini had fought with her parents on the issue of her proposed forcible marriage. Thereafter, her body was found hanging from a noose. The parents then burnt her body hurriedly.

On the basis of information they collected, police personnel of Bindiganavile station have registered a Suo motu complaint against Yadukumar and Gayatri.
