Kundapur, May 30: Bharath (26) from Marmannu in Madamakki village in the taluk committed suicide late night on Sunday May 28 by consuming insecticide.
Bharath had gone to bed along with other members of the family after dinner on Sunday. At around midnight, Sanjeeva Shetty, who had lied down by the side of Bharath, smelt something strange. He went to check, and found that Bharath had consumed some poisonous insecticide and breathed his last.
The family said that Bharath had of late become heavily addicted to liquor. On account of this addiction, he was facing acute shortage of money. The family said in its complaint that because of dejection arising out of this situation, Bharath would have chosen to end his life.
A case of unnatural death stands registered in Amasebail police station.
