Moodbidri, Jun 9: A package tour company bus carrying pilgrims returning to Udupi after visiting Tirupathi tumbled while negotiating the road bend at Kesargadde, Belvai near here on Thursday June 8. 29 pilgrims suffered injuries. Out of these, 15 were admitted into Alva's Hospital here as inpatients.

Several among them have suffered fractures. Purandar Nayak, Rajesh, Vasanth, Ramanna Shetty, Sunanda Shetty, Yashoda Shetty, Vanita Shetty, Sunita Shetty and Bharathi Shetty are among those who got admitted into the said hospital for treatment. They hail from areas like Karkala, Belman, Udupi and Barkur.

The entourage had left Udupi on pilgrimage on June 5. After visiting various places, the bus had returned to the district. After dropping off some passengers at Uppinangady and Moodbidri, the bus headed toward Udupi when the accident occurred.

Police personnel from the town station rushed to the spot, inspected the site of accident, and undertook relief operations.
