Mangaluru, Jun 30: A robber threatened an old couple and robbed their cash and jewellery.

Sadashivayya, a document writer working in Mangaluru, and his wife are the victims. They lost Rs 20,000 and 22 sovereigns of gold. The incident took place at Konaje Thursday, June 29 morning.

The robber came to the house by jumping over the rear compound wall and by breaking the front door. Sadashivayya and his wife heard the noise and found that the suitcase was missing. Then they saw the robber and shouted for help. At this time, the robber threatened them that he would kill them if they shouted for help. Then he ran away from the place with the suitcase.

The robber was fat and hid his face by wrapping a cloth around it, the couple said.

Couple’s daughter was expected to come to the house on Friday and they were planning to go to Mumbai on Saturday. Hence they had packed gold and cash in the suitcase.

In another incident, a gang of thieves entered a house belonging to Jameela and went back empty handed as they did not find anything worth taking.

Both the cases have been registered at Konaje police station. ASP Shruthi, police inspector Ashok and other personnel visited both the houses with canine squad and fingerprint experts.
