Bengaluru, Jul 1: The state high court (HC), which is hearing a petition challenging the imprisonment and fine imposed on journalists, Ravi Belagere and Anil Raj by the state assembly, suggested to the government to organize discussion between the chief minister (CM) and assembly speaker to find an amicable solution.

This suggestion came during the  hearing of writ petitions filed by the journalists concerned against the above sentences on Friday June 30. A single judge bench presided over by Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri, is hearing this writ petition. The bench also said that in case the government fails to accede to this suggestion, it will have to pass the orders on its own after considering the basic points raised in the petition.

Various media organizations across the state will be holding symbolic protest on Saturday July 1, demanding for withdrawal of the said punishment.
