Udupi: Labeling Congress corporators as rowdies condemnable – CMC president

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (EP)

Udupi, Jul 1: "Udupi district BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde labeling Congress councillors as rowdies is condemnable," said Udupi city municipal council president Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje and former president Yuvaraj in a joint press statement.

"Police complaints have never been registered against 22 Congress supported members and five appointed members during the period of their membership or public life. It would be better for BJP to obtain information about complaints and cases against their own members," they said.

"Visitor Rony D'Mello's entry all of a sudden when the council meeting was in progress was wrong. Our members out of anger pushed and sent him out. Terming the memebers as rowdies has displayed Hegde's ignorance," they added.

“BJP administration when in power had insulted some members and stopped them from coming for the meeting. Those incidents are well known to the people of Udupi. District BJP president speaking after setting those aside, does not bring him any laurels," they stated.

“Former MLA Raghupathi Bhat referring to the news in TV channels has said that it has put people of Udupi to shame. Has Raghupathi Bhat forgotten the situation faced by people in Udupi after the rave party and CD case when Bhat was the MLA? Dragging the name of the district in- charge minister into the incident to malign his image will not be successful," they said.
