Bengaluru, Jul 3: Leader of Vishwakarma community, K P Nanjundi, who had recently deserted his parent party, Congress, and crossed over to BJP, has been appointed as state vice president of BJP.

Yeddyurappa, who heads state unit of BJP, made this appointment on Sunday July 2. He asked Nanjundi to discharge the new responsibility in an efficient manner and work to strengthen the party organization towards improving the party's popularity.

Nanjundi, who has been working to organize Vishwakarma community all over the state, had parted ways with Congress after its leaders repeatedly failed to keep the promise of making him MLC. He feels that senior Congress leaders had blocked his entry into the upper house.

It may be recalled that former minister, Srinivas Prasad, too has been made vice president of state BJP although he lost the bypoll he fought after joining BJP.
