Kundapur: Free LPG connections provided to beneficiaries under PMUY

Kundapur, Jul 5: Udupi Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje distributed free cooking gas connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Laxmi Narasimha Kalamandira auditorium of Kundapur Board High School on July 4.

The MP who inaugurated the programme spoke on the occasion and said, "The smoke emitted from burning firewood is bad for health. The union government seeing the situation, started the project to provide free LPG connections to BPL families. As one and a half lac gas consumers in the country forfeited subsidy, the project was started by the union government with the cooperation of LPG companies. A list of 35 lac people is prepared, who will benefit by the project."

"There are 3,200 beneficiaries in Udupi district. More than 1,000 families will be provided LPG connections in Kundapur taluk. A life insurance of Rs six lac will also be provided to the families," she added.


    


































"Though it is 70 years since independence, more than ten crore people do not have gas connections. The prime minister who realised the pain of women who cook using firewood, started the project. The union government will also provide Rs 15,000 to construct toilets for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe members, Rs 12,000 for other BPL card holders, has implemented Mudra project for self employment, Kaushala development project for improvement of skills and Fasal Bheema project for farmers," she informed.

The MP also said, "The LPG connection is provided free of cost under PMUY. The first cylinder is free. If anybody asks money, bring the matter to my notice. Do not be a victim of false rumours."

Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivasa Shetty presided over the programme. Municipal council president Basanthi Mohan Sarang, vice-president Rajesh Kaveri, Indane Oil Corporation Limited officer Manish Tyagi, BJP leader Thingale Vikramarjun Hegde, Kundapur Mandal BJP president Kadooru Suresh Shetty, Putran gas agency head Dinesh Putran, Priyadarshini gas agency head Krishnamurthy, Nithyananda Pai, Shanteri gas agency's Venkatesh Kini and others were present.

Praveen Kumar welcomed the gathering and delivered the keynote address. Dinaker Shenoy gave information regarding use of cooking gas. Akshatha Girish compered the programme.
