Mangaluru: HJV defends Satyajit Suratkal, wife alleges police excess

Mangaluru, Jul 10: "The district police are responsible for the communal clashes that happened in Bantwal. They failed to do their job properly," blamed DK district Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) president Kishore Kumar.

Addressing the media here on Monday, July 10, Kishore said that there have been repeated attacks on Hindus and everyone knows who’s responsible for it. "The suspects in Sharath murder case are not caught yet. What is the police doing? The state government and the Muslim outfits are trying to knock down the Rashtriya Svayamseva Sangha (RSS)," he alleged.

Condemning the charges against Satyajit Suratkal, he questioned on what basis has he been booked under 307.

"It was because of Satyajit’s effort that a funeral procession was successfully held for Sharath. He was the one who peacefully handled everything, even when the mob started pelting stones at the funeral procession at BC Road," said Kishore. He also lashed out against the police for barging into Satyajit’s house in the middle of the night when only women were present. "SDPI and PFI are behind all these communal disturbances," he alleged.

"Venugopal, the new AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka affairs is trying to change Karnataka into Kerala, where the Hindus are assaulted repeatedly and the state government is giving its utmost support," he said. He warned that if the government doesn’t withdraw the charges against Satyajit, the HJV and Sangh Parivar will hold a huge protest.

Satyajit’s wife Savitha Satyajit, who was present at the media conference, narrated her ordeal when the police barged into the house without an accompanying lady police officer at around 2 am.

"Police were roaming around my house since 10 pm. Around 2 am they knocked the door. There were no men in the house. It was only me, my two kids and a relative with her four-month-old. Hence, I did not open the door. Then they started knocking the windows of the bedroom. I gathered courage to find out who was outside and came to know that police had come to arrest my husband," she said.

She further questioned the ethics of the district police, stating that around 50 male officers barged into a house which had only ladies and children. There was not even a single lady officer, she said.

"The murderers are roaming freely but a just man like my husband is arrested even though he is not guilty of anything, what kind of justice is this?" she lamented.

HJV leader Radhakrishna Adyanthaya said that the fight is not between two political parties or two religions. It is a 'terror' group which is driving away Hindus from Kashmir, which then entered Assam, UP, Kerala and Karnataka. "It is not a fight between Hindus and Muslims, rather it’s a fight between the nationals and anti-nationals," he said. He also mentioned that RSS is an organisation which only involves itself when there is any threat to national sentiments like 'cow slaughtering, illegal trading of cow, love jihad, and religious conversion'. "But the Muslim outfits with the support of the government are trying to eliminate them," he said.

He also warned the state government and said that if it still 'supports' communal violence, it will be held responsible for any bloodshed that may happen. "The HJV and Sangh Parivar are doing their best to maintain peace and harmony," he said. He strongly condemned the alleged involvement and support of the state government especially of ministers Ramanath Rai and U T Khader in the communal clashes and urged the government to come out with stricter laws to deal with such situations.

"It is not a fight between Hindus and Muslims, rather it’s a fight between the nationals and anti-nationals"

People who think that they are fighting against Anti-nationals are idiots. They can only spread such nonsense among other idiots.

And for people who support the nationalistic groups, I like to remind them that nationalism has a detrimental impact on a nation. Just read what happened to the AXIS powers during world war 2.

It is wrong if the police barged into the house of Satyajit at 2am without woman police. However, police should take stern action against those who create trouble and fear in the minds of innocent citizens. Do not catch the small fish. Catch the masters first and small fishes will fall in line themselves.
