Belagavi: Police arrest six - recover demonetized currency worth Rs 3.11 cr

Belagavi, Jul 11: City crime branch police from the city, who have cracked a racket involving inter-state operatives, arrested six persons and seized from them demonetized currency notes worth Rs 3.11 crore from their possession on Monday July 10.

The arrested accused are Arvind Pundalik Talwar (33) from Goa, Suhas Ashok Patil (31) from Pune, Rama Bhyru Patil (29) from Halaga in the district, Saddam Sheikh (28) from Miraj, Anil Patel (29) from Gujarat and Abdul Nasir Ahmed Pasha (52), a native of Bhatkal.

The accused were staying in a private lodge in the city when CCB inspector, Gaddekar, acting on reliable information, raided the lodge and arrested the concerned. The entire amount seized comprises of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations.
