Udupi, Jun 12: Udupi district zilla panchayath(ZP) president Raju Poojari has instructed the health department officials to be extra vigilant and watchful about the possibility of the spread of epidemic diseases like chikungunya and malaria in the district and be in readiness to repulse them, considering their alarming spread in the neighbouring districts..

Chairing the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting, Poojari instructed the officials to conduct medical camps as well as awareness programmes in both villages and urban areas about chikungunya. They should take the help of the anganavadi workers and other voluntary organizations in this endeavour, he said.

Janardhan Tonse, chairman of the ZP standing committee on agriculture and industries,  brought to the notice of the chair the slow progress in the construction work being handled by the ports and fisheries department at Kemmannu and Hoode villages.
