Mangalore, Jul 5: Mahendra Lakhanpal, from Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), is frequenting the churches in the city.  No, he is  not  a pilgrim seeking to convert. He is here  in search of a bag that his son lost in
transit.

Lakhanpal's son Vivek lost his bag . It would have been an ordinary bag if not for the fact that it contained  his BE graduation convocation certificate,  SSLC and II PUC marks cards, passport, laptop, registration booklet of his motor bike, amongst other things. All these were in the trolley bag that Vivek had taken along with him aboard a KSRTC bus leaving Mumbai for Harihar, on Sunday, June 29.

A Management student in Harihar, Vivek found his bag missing when he alighted at his destination. He immediately reported the matter to the bus conductor, who then located a similar bag which, unfortunately, was not that of Vivek.  When KSRTC officials searched the bag, they found one photograph which seems to be that of the actual owner of the bag and came to the conclusion that he had taken Vivek's bag by mistake.

Alwyn

That individual is thought to be a certain  Alwyn, who got down at Hubli. Though Vivek lodged a complaint at Hubli police station (case no 460/08) and handed over the photograph obtained from the other bag, there
has been no progress so far.

Finally, the senior Lakhanpal decided to begin a manhunt ( bag hunt ) on his own.  Some  sources informed him that Alwyn might have headed for Mangalore. So Lakhanpal made his way to the city.  However, the mysterious Alwyn is yet to be traced.  Assuming Alwyn to be a Catholic , Lakhanpal has made futile rounds to all the city  churches  hoping to get some information of the man who might have his son’s bag.

Cannot this be taken up by local papers at Hubli on voluntary basis by making publication in the matter. The fact that till now there has been no response probably indicates that the owner has no intention to return even the papers as they are useless for any body else.

It is really a Painful & frustating incident for mahendra.I pray he gets his lost or Stolen bag at the earliest. A similar incident happenned with me while my journey from Mysore to Mangalore during april 2000.Even the police complaint,News Paper advertisement for reward didnt help and unfortunately i had to apply for duplicate marks cards all again...which also prevented me from persuing my higher studies. I strongly advise to punish the concerned if it was done intentionally... Good luck Mahindra...
