Udupi, Dec 21: The Udupi District Gold and Silver Workers Association has filed a complaint against Udaya Acharya Palli, resident of Manchakal and founder of Mi-Tech ITI College near Shirva petrol bunk for deceiving them of lacs of rupees meant to be distributed to the beneficiaries under PMKVY of the central government.

According to the allegation, the association has alleged that on March 1, 2016, Udaya Acharya had given information with regards to the training, subsidy, certificate of proof and other facilities under the scheme 'Gems and Jewellery' at the general meeting of the association and had requested all members to participate in the same. 320 members of the association had applied for the training and a test was conducted in May 2016 for the same.

Only 120 members received the 'Certificate of proof' on October 22, 2016. On inquiry of stipend and training allowance, Udaya Acharya said that it takes time for the money to arrive and he will inform the same in due course. However, it has been one and a half years now and members have not received any money in their accounts that were opened for this purpose in Bank of India, Udupi Branch.

According to bank records, an amount ranging from Rs 7000 to Rs 21000 has been deposited in these accounts. However, the same has been drawn illegally by Udaya Acharya with the help of corrupt officers of the bank. He has also threatened the members of the association of dire consequences when they inquired about the money that is due to them.

The complaint is filed by Balakrishna Acharya Kappettu, president and Rathnakar Kurkalu, chief secretary of the association.
