Former Karnataka Education minister BC Nagesh dies at 67 after prolonged illness

Bengaluru, Aug 19: Former Karnataka Education minister and two-time Tiptur MLA B C Nagesh passed away on Tuesday following a prolonged illness. He was 67.

Nagesh, an electrical engineering graduate from BMS College of Engineering, was actively involved with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during his student days before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1984.

He was particularly known for his work in the education sector during his tenure as Primary Education Minister. His death prompted condolences from political leaders across party lines.

Chief minister DK Shivakumar expressed grief over Nagesh's demise and recalled his simple nature, straightforward approach and warm interactions with people.

In his condolence message, Shivakumar said Nagesh had made a distinct mark in public life and that his contributions as an MLA and Education Minister would be remembered. He also noted Nagesh's special concern for the education sector.

Union minister H D Kumaraswamy also condoled Nagesh's death and praised his contributions as Primary Education minister, saying he had undertaken several commendable initiatives during his tenure.
