Puttur: Two from Savanur arrested for robbery at Bengaluru

Puttur, Dec 22: Personnel of Vivekanagara police station at Bengaluru have arrested two persons from Savanur in the taluk. The duo has been accused of posing like income tax officers, tying up a 11-year-old boy and robbing Rs 20,000 in cash and 30 grams of gold ornaments.

The arrested accused happen to be Muhammed Nasir, son of Savanur Hasainar and Abdulla son of Shantinagaraa Hasakutty. They have been charged with robbing a house belonging to Lavanya at Venkatappa Layout, Vidyaranapura, Bengaluru, on December 14 when Lavanya's son, Rakesh (11) was alone at home. The youngsters, who claimed themselves as income tax officers, had atacked the boy. A case about the incident had been filed in Vidyaranyapura police station.

Nasir and Abdulla had been caught by Vivekanagara police when they were returning after committing theft in a temple at Vannarpete, Bengaluru. During their interrogation, they had confessed about the robbery they had committed at the house of Lavanya as above.

It is said that Lavanya knew Nasir, who was working as delivery boy for online store, Flipcart, well. He used to frequent her home, it is said. Nasir says that he knew the lady since the last four years, But police from Vivekanagara police said Lavanya had denied this information.

Interestingly, although Lavanya was aware that robbery was committed in her house by Nasir, who was well-known to her, she had not given this piece of information to the police. It is said that she was unwilling to allow others know about the fact that she knew Nasir well.

Nasir faces various cases including theft of concrete mixer in Savanur, theft of areca nut and other thefts, filed in Kadaba police station.
