Udupi, Dec 23: With an aim to promote inter-religious harmony, Sarva Dharma Sauhardha Committee on Thursday, December 21 organised ‘Christmas Sambhram’ at St John’s Church, Pangla.

“Christmas should be celebrated with love and humanity. The happiness of the festival will be enhanced only when it is shared,” said St John’s Church parish priest Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves.

“Let us spread love, peace and harmony in society without discriminating caste, religion and creed,” said Udupi diocese PRO Fr Dennis D’Sa.

“People should be broad-minded and have respect for other religions. This will reduce feelings of hatred in society. Everyone has their own perspective about God and this should not be restricted to one religion,” said MGM College former lecturer, Professor M L Samaga.

Family Counseling Centre director, Janab Sayeed Ismail also took part in the celebrations.

In addition to the Christmas celebration programme, a beautiful procession ‘Christmas on wheels’ was held. St John's assistant parish priest Fr Royson Fernandes penned down the script of the tableau 'Krista Kirana'. Over 60 artistes in two decorated trucks enacted the story of the birth of Jesus and also spread the Christmas message.

Dances, Christmas carols were performed. The tableau commenced at Katapadi and ended at Shirva.
