Bantwal: ACB finds official rented out own building to government

Bantwal, Dec 28: Raids conducted by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on 11 residences of government officials and offices have succeeded in unearthing lot of unaccounted income. It is learnt that out of them, the raid on Francis Paul Miranda, assistant director of agriculture here, has leased out his own building to the department of agriculture and getting rent for the same.

The officials, who completed verification of documents collected during the raid on December 13 have concluded that highest unaccounted wealth among them stands in the name of Miranda. They say that Paul has registered a house belonging to him in the name of his father, and rented out the same to the department of agriculture.

The official had bought a Nissan car worth Rs 20 lac by paying Rs 15 lac in cash and the balance through cheque. There is no record where from this Rs 15 lac came. He has seven sites, 12 acres of land, an apartment, two cars, a motor bike, LIC policies worth Rs 15 lac, 250 grams gold ornaments, one kg silver, household items worth five lac rupees, five lac rupees in cash, and Rs 56 lac bank deposits. The officials said that the official also spent Rs 18 lac for renovation of the farm house. The total worth of illegal assets owned by him is worth over Rs 20 crore, they have claimed.
