Mangaluru: 56th year installation ceremony of JCI held

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The 56th year installation ceremony of JCI Mangalore took place at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte recently.

The new president of the chapter Shylaja A Rao took oath with secretary Shwetha Jain and other new office bearers. The event was graced by the presence of chief guest Rtn Rajendra Kalbavi, Anil Kumar J, former national executive vice-president, JCI India, Rakesh Kunjoor, zone president zone XV, Sadannada Navada, PEVP JCI India and Dr Aravinda Rao, former zone president.

Kalbavi spoke on the importance of social service and individual development and stated how they both go hand in hand while Rakesh gave a brief account on the importance of being socially active told us how JCI came into being and has a vision to reach more than 5000 members. He also emphasized that JCs play an important role in shaping the future of youths through encouraging them to participate in training activities.



The event started with outgoing president Vikas Shetty presenting the annual report. The collar was then handed over to president elect Shylaja A Rao. Shylaja A Rao delivered her incoming president’s speech and proceeded by installing the new secretary Shewtha Jain, Akshatha Kamath LOM editor, Chethana Jyothi Rahul as chairperson and Vidwith Jain as junior JC president. In her incoming speech, she mentioned her future plans, projects and fund raising for permanent projects. She also released the LOM bulletin – Disha, which is a platform for all enthusiastic members to show off their skills, was released by the Rakesh Kunjoor.

The induction of 10 new members was done by Anil Kumar J.

The event ended with the honoring of former president Vijay Vishnu Mayya for excelling in the ladder of association of consulting civil engineers and also B Krishnamurthy for dedicating his life in JC career for 30+ years. In-charge zone vice-president Manamohana Balladka assured his support for JCI Mangalore throughout the year. The vote of thanks was delivered by secretary Shwetha Jain.
