Wolfsburg extend defender Jung's contract

Berlin, Jan 26 (IANS): VfL Wolfsburg have extended defender Sebastian Jung's contract which keeps him at the German football club till June 2019.

"We are pleased that Sebastian stays on board beyond summer. He burns for a new start at Wolfsburg after injuries have stopped him in 2017. Now, he is fully recovered and will provide his part to reach our goals," Wolfsburg's sporting director Olaf Rebbe said on Thursday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Jung joined Wolfsburg from league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt but injuries have kept him on the sidelines.

"I have had a hard time but I kept going. Now I want to start again. I thank Wolfsburg for relying on me for the future," Jung said on the club's official homepage.

Wolfsburg are currently 13th on the Bundesliga table. They clash with rivals and newly promoted Hannover in the "Lower Saxony" derby to close the 20th round of the Bundesliga on Sunday.
