Bengaluru, Feb 2: Karavali Kalaprathishtana honoured Latha Srinivas Tantry who is known for diverse talent of making miniature models of airplanes, architectural wonders of the world, vintage cars and ships and also writings.

Born on February 16, 1976, Latha is the last of five daughters of Sri N.Sripathi and Smt Lakshmi from Belapu Village, Yellur, Dakshina Kannada. She completed her schooling at Gulabi Primary and High School, Bengaluru and went on to procure diploma in Electronics and worked as a junior training officer and vice-principal at Sri Ayyappan Industrial Training Centre for 12 years from 1995 to 2007. Latha completed MA in English Literature from Karanataka University and went on to write a thesis on English and its scope in vocational training in India for which she was awarded a doctorate by The Indian Education Academy in 2009. Her second thesis ‘Vocational Education – tool for Women Empowerment in Rural India’ earned her a second doctorate in November 2017. She has in her career as an academian been honoured with two diplomas by the British Institute and nine awards at national and state level.

Latha is a prolific writer and a voracious reader. She has authored six books, four in English and two in Kannada. Auto Revival, The life of a Vishwakarma, Compact Impact, Wings and Wheels in English; Patelara Makkalu and Belaku Hommitu in Kannada. She has written over 300 articles/essays and translations.

Her diverse hobbies include miniature model making. She has assembled over 300 models of Airplanes, Vintage cars and war vehicles, 3D models and paper models; they are displayed in her private museum Ramaneeya at Shivakote, Bengaluru. Latha is also interested in art and craft, stamp and coin collection and gardening. She is a gifted calligraphist too. Her interests are greatly supported by her husband Belman Srinivas Tantry.
