Mangalore, Aug 12: The district units of Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bajrangdal will be organizing 'Rasta Roko' in the district on Wednesday August 13, in support of their demand for vesting the land earlier sanctioned by the Jammu and Kashmir government, back to Amarnath Shrine Board.
In a press conference held in the Patrika Bhavan in the city on Monday August 11, VHP regional president Prof M B Puranik said that the Amarnath Temple Board, which used to take care of the pilgrimage arrangements and the devotees earlier, was later handed over to J&K tourism department by the government.
The land belonging to the temple had been taken back by the government. Demanding that the land thus wrested be returned to the temple trust immediately, the VHP and Bajrangdal would be staging a road blockade programme at Suratkal, Bykampady, Kavoor, Kottara Chowki, Lalbagh, Ambedkar circle in the city and at many places elsewhere in the district, blocking all the main roads during the said protest programme, he said.
