Udupi: Counselling centre Asha Kiran inaugurated at Brahmavar

Udupi, Mar 2: A new centre of Asha Kiran, counselling and treatment centre for alcoholics and drug addicts was inaugurated by capuchin provincial, Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais and blessed by the Bishop of Udupi Fr Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, on February 27.

Minister Pramod Madwaraj visited the centre and conveyed his good wishes. Fr Victor Fernandes welcomed the gathering. The premise is donated by Ruby Sequiera.The children of Nirmala School welcomed the gathering with their beautiful dance. Fr Joslie conducted the prayer. Fr Charles gave a brief history of Asha Kiran. Fr Roshan thanked the gathered assembly and Fr Chetan Lobo as the compere, kept the audience in good humour all through the programme.



About Asha Kiran

Asha Kiran was started in 1991 in Kengeri, Bengaluru. As there was a greater need felt in Shimoga district, the centre was shifted to Bhadravathi in 2001 with full pledged facilities. Past 17 years, thousands of addicted families have found solace and hope through Asha Kiran. It is the hope of Asha Kiran that this service is made available to the people at Heroor, Brahmavar, without consideration of caste and creed. In the past 27 years, besides treatment at the centre, Asha Kiran has rendered its service through awareness programmes in various villages in Karnataka. In recognition of the services in the field of alcohol and drug addiction, the Indian Psychiatric Society, Karnataka state branch honoured Asha Kiran with Spandana Award.
