Won't comply with Mueller subpoena: Former Trump campaign aide

Washington, Mar 6 (IANS): Sam Nunberg, a former campaign aide of US President Donald Trump, said on Monday that he won't comply with a subpoena issued by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team over Russia investigation.

"When I got the subpoena it was ridiculous to me. Why should I hand them over every email I've had with Steve Bannon or Roger Stone since November. Since November of 2015?" Nunberg said in an interview on MSNBC.

"I think it would be really really funny if they wanted to arrest me because I don't want to spend 80 hours going over emails with Steve Bannon and Roger Stone." he said on MSNBC, adding that he made the decision on his own.

Nunberg was summoned to appear before the grand jury on Friday and also received a two-page subpoena for documents tied to Trump and nine others, he told the Washington Post earlier.

"Let him arrest me," Nunberg told the Post. "Mueller should understand I am not going in on Friday."

Later on Monday, Nunbery denied wrongdoing in a statement provided to CNN.

"Let me reiterate, I have no knowledge or involvement in Russian Collusion (sic) or any other inappropriate act," Stone's statement read.

Stone is a longtime Trump adviser and Bannon is former White House chief strategist. The Trump campaign fired Nunberg in August 2015 after racist social media posts emerged.
