Mangaluru, Apr 7: In a tragic incident that happened on the night of Thursday, April 5, a scooter rider lost his life when he collided with a stationary pick up that was parked on the road as it was broken down.

The deceased is identified as Ashok (39). He was working as an aluminium fabricator and was returning home after work. He was accompanied on pillion by his friend Praveen, whom he picked up at Pumpwell on the way to his home.

When the scooter reached Jappinamogaru, Ashok did not notice the pickup truck that was standing on the road as it had broken down. This resulted in the collision of the scooter from behind. Both Ashok and his friend fell on the road due to the impact of the collision. Ashok who was critically injured succumbed to his injuries in a private hospital in Mangaluru on the morning of Friday, April 6.

The tyre of the pickup truck, which was transporting plantain from Shivamogga to Kasaragod, got blasted and as a result, it was standing on the road just before five minutes of the collision. Police of traffic (south) have registered a case and investigating the matter.
